Born:  11. 11. 1958, Ljubljana, Slovenia; Nationality: Slovenian; married; two kids (16 and 18)

Education:  University of Ljubljana, Faculty of Chemistry and Chemical Technology:  BSc, MSc, PhD  in analytical chemistry,  specialization in radiochemistry, neutron activation analysis and production  of isotopes for nuclear medicine.

Assist. Prof. for radiochemistry since 1994 (Faculty for Chemistry and Chemical Technology; University of Ljubljana, Slovenia)

Between 1982 and 1994 researcher at the Jozef Stefan Institute, Department of Nuclear Chemistry, Ljubljana, Slovenia.

From 1994 employed by the International Atomic Energy Agency, Agency’s Laboratories Seibersdorf, dealing with the production of reference materials and organization of international laboratory intercomparison runs, radiochemistry, and particle size analysis, since 1996 Quality Systems Manager of IAEA Laboratories.

Lead Assessor (BSI) and Expert Auditor being engaged in assessments of various laboratories world-wide and also in assessment of reference materials producers, working for UKAS, BELAC and Slovenian Accreditation (SA).

 

Publications: 72 articles, more than 100 conference contributions, end more than 100 reports, editor of 3 books from quality assurance, and other works.

 

Member of  the following international organizations and bodies:

  • International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry (IUPAC): President of the IUPAC Analytical Chemistry Division (2008-2011); Chairman of the IUPAC Interdivisional Working Party on Harmonization of Quality Assurance Schemes for Analytical Laboratories (1996-2007, 2012 -);
  • Cooperation  in International Traceability in Analytical Chemistry (CITAC),
  • ISO Committee on Reference Materials (ISO/REMCO): Chair of the Steering Group on International Coordination and Cooperation, Member of the Chairman’s Advisory Board, Co-author of ISO Guides 34 and 35.
  • Consultative Committee for Amount of Substance — Metrology in Chemistry (CCQM) of the International Conference of Weights and Measures (CIPM).
